How did you get into modeling?
Modeling had always been an idea sort of put on me my whole life. So the whole thing kind of fell into my lap, as I was scouted through friends, Instagram, and on the street.
What makes you interested in modeling?
I believe it to be a unique art form where I get to be the subject and am able to creatively express ideas and concepts through photographs.
Did you give up anything to pursue modeling?
Design school in Berlin was the next thing on my life to do list. I had already been making arrangements, however, that is now on hold.
Are you happy with your decision?
Well, my friend, time will tell us both. (hahahah)
What is your favorite aspect of fashion?
The conveying of one’s thoughts and personality through clothes
Do you consider yourself an artist or a designer, or an art enthusiast, etc.?
If I were to put a label on myself it would be that of a Creative, as I enjoy and dabble in all aspects/parts of design and art
You’re a bit of a world traveler. Where has been your favorite place that you’ve traveled to?
FAVORITE?!! Ahh, well lets not narrow it down to that because we could be here all night.. but I really love Copenhagen and Berlin. Copenhagen, because it has this charming intimacy where the streets are swarmed with bikes, the air is crisp and clean, and the buildings are exploding with color. As for Berlin, I feel it is a lot like me. It’s a patchwork of people, ideas, and cultures, that come together to create this uniquely odd yet beautiful city that draws you into it.
What do you think about living in Brooklyn?
My part of Brooklyn is this quirky little part of New York that I really dig. Brooklyn just has a creative industrious feeling to it that is rooted deep in diverse cultures, which I love.
What is a happy moment you’ve experienced recently?
There’s been quite a few…it was really fun shooting with you guys. It was great being able to express our creativity together.
Has your hometown impacted your life at all?
Yeah. I mean, growing up I was ostracized for liking the creative fields, like music, art, and fashion. I was an anomaly for a lot of people in my small town and was pushed out and not really accepted. I ended up not caring about what others thought because of the support my parents gave me.
I was typically made fun of for looking like a model. In the 6th grade there was a rumor that went around that I was an underwear model and that I was gay. I mean, now it’s just funny. But it was definitely part of why I resented the idea of modeling for a long time. The idea of modeling just felt pushed on me since I was young.
I came to a point though after being scouted multiple times and I realized that modeling doesn’t define me. It is a way I can lift and reach out to those that typically are overlooked.
What’s your morning routine?
Unfortunately my routine as of late is, wake up, check all of my snapchats and other notifications. Then I stretch and then make me some lemon cinnamon water. From there, I speak with God and then hit the gym for those booty toning workouts. haha
What do you think about social media? You’re pretty present in it right?
Social media is this strange creature that has gone from being personal to becoming a commercialized superficial platform. For example, in modeling agencies and casting directors look at how many followers and likes you have, typically the more you have the more they like you. I still love insta and snapchat though!
What do you like about snapchat?
(He is the king of snapchat) Well you can send the funniest and weirdest things to people and it only lasts for three seconds! I love it!
You call yourself a Renaissance man. Why do you say that and why is that important to you?
I like to be well versed in lots of things, which is why I’m reading so many books! I like different aspects of so many genres. I like to cook. I like to bake. I like to design. I like to clean. But then I also love to build things and I love finances and science and all of the weird little aspects of everything. And they all come together so brilliantly too!
A huge part of me and the source of this desire to excel in all things is my faith and belief in Jesus Christ. He wasn’t just a religious leader, but He was a well-rounded man. He was physically active, but also emotionally, spiritually and mentally strong and able to do so many different things and He connected with people. I love being able to connect with people and knowing about these different things enables me to make ties to those around me creating more meaningful relationships.
If you could tell everyone in the world something, what would you say?
No matter the industry you go into, be yourself and embrace it. Don’t let anyone put you into a box or mold and don’t listen to people who tell you to be something that you’re not.
