I was recently in the market to get my hair dyed mermaid blue and that was when I met Ruth. I quickly realized that Ruth is not just a hair stylist, she is truly a hair artist. I’ve since learned that the world of Ruth Muhlestein is filled with psychedelic color, sugary sweetness and the perfect amount of sass to boot. When you meet her you will soon understand that your love of donuts will never meet her depth of devotion. I wanted to learn a little bit more about her and what makes Ruth so magical…besides the unicorns.
What is a joyous moment that you’ve experienced recently?
Getting a week off to spend being hooligans with my husband! We needed a break!
Why did you pursue hair styling?
I never thought I’d do hair. I just didn’t really care about it. And then I felt like I should explore it, and learned that I freakin love it. It’s exhilarating to create an aesthetic that has a flair of me in it that someone else will wear around. It’s awesome. Walking art.
Did you have to give up anything to pursue it?
I had to quit the job I was working to go back to an old job I didn’t love as well as move back in with my parents so I could have enough money to pay for school. It was a lot of change but definitely worth it. I wouldn’t have done it any other way.
Do you have any other hobbies?
I love to sing and play guitar, music is my other passion. I also love to craft, making things with my hands out of random stuff is fun 🙂
Are you close with your family?
Super close with my family! They’re everything to me, my brothers are my best friends and my sister keeps me sane. I talk to my parents about everything and anything. I freaking love my family.
Animal I would most want to be:
If I could be an animal I’d probably be an elephant because they’re stinking adorable.
Favorite drink:
My favorite drink is any sort of lemonade. The more tart the better.
If you could tell everyone in the world one thing, what would you say?
If I could tell the world one thing I’d say, be happy, be kind the rest will come along.
